Core primitives
- Bunny Stream — self-hosted video CDN, signed URLs, HLS streaming, automatic encoding
- Bunny Storage — S3-compatible storage for large files, audio, PDFs
- Native providers — Vimeo, YouTube, SoundCloud, Mixcloud (via Media Connector shim)
Credentials are stored in the Credentials Vault.
Uploading video
Drag a video file onto the Media library. Based on size and provider settings, Media:
- Streams the upload directly to Bunny Stream (no local disk write)
- Triggers Bunny's transcoding pipeline for multiple quality tiers
- Generates thumbnails at random timecodes
- Attaches a media record to WP with the Bunny IDs and playback URL
Once ready, embed anywhere with [wig_media id="42"].
Galleries
A gallery is a curated list of media items with a layout. Built through a visual editor:
- Pick items from the library (video, audio, image)
- Choose layout — grid, masonry, carousel, list
- Configure lightbox, autoplay, loop, captions
- Save, embed with
[wig_gallery id="42"]
Collections
A collection is like a gallery but hierarchical — a video series, a podcast season, a course module's video pack. Collections support: ordered playback, progress tracking (synced with LMS), and episode metadata.
Signed URLs
For paid content, Media generates short-lived signed playback URLs. Non-entitled visitors see a thumbnail with a "Sign in to watch" overlay; entitled visitors get a URL that works for 2 hours, scoped to their IP.
Entitlement is determined by: logged-in user + LMS enrollment, Commerce purchase, or active subscription.
Image optimization
All image uploads are routed through Smush Pro (if installed). Media also generates WebP variants on the fly for browsers that support them.
Vs Media Connector standalone
The Media Connector standalone is a lightweight multi-provider embed tool. The Media Suite module is broader — it owns the storage layer (Bunny Stream, Bunny Storage) and adds galleries, collections, and signed URLs. Don't run both.
