Wigmorean Media Connector

A unified video and audio embed layer for WordPress. One shortcode, five providers, thumbnail galleries — and a one-click importer for existing Vimeography installs.

Supported providers

ProviderContent typesAuth
Bunny StreamVideo (self-hosted CDN)API key
VimeoVideo (Pro accounts)OAuth token
YouTubeVideo (public, unlisted)API key
SoundCloudAudioOEmbed (no auth)
MixcloudAudio (DJ mixes, podcasts)OEmbed (no auth)

Connecting a provider

  1. Go to Wigmorean → Media Connector → Providers
  2. Click the provider you want to add
  3. Enter the API credential (or click through the OAuth flow for Vimeo)
  4. Click Test Connection — the plugin fetches a sample listing to confirm the credential works
  5. Save

Embedding a single video

[wig_media provider="vimeo" id="987654321"]
[wig_media provider="youtube" id="dQw4w9WgXcQ"]
[wig_media provider="bunny" id="library/12345/video/abc-def"]

The plugin renders a responsive, lazy-loaded embed with the provider's player. Dimensions default to 16:9; override with aspect="4:3" or explicit width/height.

Galleries

A gallery is a curated list of media items, optionally grouped by tag, with thumbnails and a lightbox. Create one via Media Connector → Galleries → New Gallery:

  1. Name the gallery
  2. Pull items from your connected providers (search by title or tag)
  3. Drag to reorder
  4. Choose a layout — grid, masonry, or list
  5. Save and embed with [wig_gallery id="42"]

Vimeography import

If you're coming from the Vimeography plugin, the one-click importer reads your existing galleries and recreates them in Media Connector:

  1. Go to Media Connector → Import → Vimeography
  2. The importer lists every Vimeography gallery it finds
  3. Select which ones to import
  4. Click Import — videos, order, and tags carry over

Your old Vimeography shortcodes keep working during the transition (Media Connector registers a compatibility shim for [vimeography]).

Bunny Stream for privacy. If your content shouldn't show up on YouTube or Vimeo (paid courses, internal training), Bunny Stream lets you host video on your own CDN with signed URLs — the Connector handles signing transparently.
