Groups
Groups are containers for community activity. Each group has: a name, description, cover image, members, a discussion feed. Groups can be:
- Public — anyone can view, anyone can join
- Private — only members view; joining requires approval
- Hidden — invisible to non-members
Groups can also be tied to a course, a product purchase, or a subscription — entitlement gates membership automatically.
Forums
Structured discussion areas with threads and replies. Unlike the discussion feed on groups (reverse-chronological), forums have persistent threads with titles, tags, and nested replies. Good for technical Q&A, organized topics, searchable archives.
Discussions
A discussion is a thread + replies with optional attachments (images, files, video embeds). Discussions can live:
- On a group's feed
- In a forum
- On a course lesson (via LMS)
- On any post or CPT via
[wig_discussion]
Moderation
Group owners and community moderators have tools for:
- Deleting posts or replies
- Muting or banning members
- Pinning important threads
- Closing threads (read-only)
- Flagging for admin review
Users can also report posts — flagged items queue for moderator review with one-click resolve.
Member directory
A searchable list of all members, with profiles showing: avatar, bio, groups, badges (from LMS), activity history. Privacy settings let users hide or redact fields.
Activity feed
Every member has a personal activity feed — posts from groups they've joined, replies to their threads, mentions, new followers. Delivered on their dashboard and optionally via daily digest email (routed through GoLive SMTP).
Notifications
Real-time in-site notifications + optional email digests. Configure per-category: mentions, replies to your posts, new members in your groups, moderator actions.
Integration points
- LMS — auto-create a group per course; enrollment adds members
- Commerce — subscription products grant group membership
- CRM — member activity flows to the contact's activity log
