Events
An event has: title, start, end, location (physical or virtual), description, featured image, capacity, visibility. Events can be:
- One-off
- All-day
- Multi-day
- Recurring (via RRULE)
- Linked to a meeting (via GoLive)
- Linked to a product (paid admission via Commerce)
RRULE recurrence
Calendar uses the iCalendar RRULE spec for recurring events — the same format Google Calendar and Outlook use. That means:
- Every Tuesday and Thursday for 12 weeks
- First Monday of every month
- Daily until a specific date
- Second-to-last business day of each quarter
Exceptions (move a single occurrence; cancel one; modify all future) are handled natively.
The ten views
- Month — classic grid with events in day cells
- Week — time-axis grid, hours on the vertical
- Day — single day's agenda
- Agenda — flat list by date
- List — searchable, filterable, no layout
- Year — month-per-row overview
- Gantt — multi-day events as bars
- Map — events with locations plotted on a map
- Kanban — grouped by event status or category
- Card — magazine-style feature view
Visitors can switch views on the frontend. Admins can restrict which views are available.
RSVPs
Visitors can RSVP to events (Yes, No, Maybe). Capacity-limited events close RSVPs at capacity; a waitlist opens automatically. Reminder emails are sent 24 hours before via GoLive SMTP.
Calendar subscriptions
Every visible calendar has an iCal subscription URL. Users can add it to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook — the subscription auto-refreshes and picks up new events and changes.
Integrations
- LMS — course sessions appear as calendar events
- Admissions — deadlines appear as events
- Communities — group events
- GoLive — video meeting auto-attaches to an event
