Question bank
Every question lives in the bank once and can be reused across many exams. Each question has:
- Body (rich text, supports math, images, video)

- Answer key (for auto-gradable types)
- Difficulty and tags for filtering
- Rubric (for essay and free-response types)
The 13 question types

Exam builder
Assemble an exam by:
- Picking questions from the bank
- Setting a time limit
- Setting a randomization rule (e.g., "pick 20 random from this tag pool")
- Configuring availability — open/close dates, attempts allowed, password
- Attaching a proctoring policy (optional)
Proctoring
Exams can be proctored by the browser:
- Webcam recording — continuous video of the test-taker, reviewable after
- Screen recording — captures what the student saw
- Tab-switch detection — logs and flags when the student leaves the exam window
- Lockdown mode — blocks right-click, copy, and new-tab openings
Proctoring data is stored locally (your server) — not sent to a third party.
Auto-grading
Auto-gradable types (1–4, 7–10) score instantly. Mixed exams auto-grade those questions and flag the rest for instructor review. Totals display once all manual grading is done.
Surveys
Flip an exam's Survey mode switch and grading is disabled entirely — it becomes a data-collection form. Useful for course feedback, program intake, and research studies. Responses are CSV-exportable.
