1. "License validation failed"
Cause: usually the key is wrong (extra whitespace) or the site's already used all its seats.
Fix: Paste the key fresh from the welcome email. Go to the License tab → Show activated sites — if you see 5 of 5 sites used, deactivate an old one you no longer need.
2. "Update now" button doesn't do anything
Cause: the wigmorean-controlled-environment mu-plugin is blocking updates, or the Cloud is unreachable from your server.
Fix: Visit Connect → Diagnostics and click Test Cloud connection. If it fails, your server's firewall is probably blocking outbound HTTPS to wigmorean.com. Ask your host to whitelist.
3. SafeGuard shows every card as "Unchecked"
Cause: the last Cloud check-in failed, and the transient with cached verdicts has expired.
Fix: Go to SafeGuard → Settings and click Force refresh. If the refresh still fails, same as issue #2 — network problem.
4. Stripe checkout returns to site but order isn't marked paid
Cause: the Stripe webhook isn't configured or the webhook signing secret is wrong.
Fix: In the Stripe Dashboard → Developers → Webhooks, confirm the endpoint URL matches https://your-site.com/wp-json/wigmorean-stripe/v1/webhook. Confirm the signing secret matches Wigmorean Stripe → Settings → Webhook Secret. Click Send test event — you should see it arrive in the Stripe log within seconds.
5. Emails not arriving
Cause: SPF/DKIM records aren't set, so your email is landing in spam or bouncing.
Fix: Go to Wigmorean SMTP → DNS Check. Fix every red or yellow item it reports. Send a test email to check@mail-tester.com to confirm a 10/10 delivery score.
6. Page rendering looks broken / unstyled
Cause: the CSS file is cached in an old state, or it isn't loading at all.
Fix: Hard-refresh the browser (Shift + Reload). Go to Hummingbird → Caching and click Clear all cache. If the problem persists, open the browser devtools Network tab and look for any CSS file with a non-200 status.
7. Plugin install fails silently
Cause: the uploads folder or plugins folder isn't writable, or PHP timed out on the download.
Fix: SSH in and run ls -la wp-content/ — both plugins/ and uploads/ should be writable by the web server user. If they aren't, fix ownership with chown -R www-data:www-data wp-content/.
8. Video embed shows "Provider not authenticated"
Cause: your Vimeo/Bunny/YouTube credential expired or was revoked.
Fix: Go to Media Connector → Providers, click the affected provider, click Reconnect. For Vimeo, this re-runs OAuth; for others, paste a fresh API key.
9. Exams won't auto-grade
Cause: WP-Cron isn't running on this server — cloud WordPress sometimes disables it.
Fix: Disable WP-Cron in wp-config.php and set up a system cron:
* * * * * wget -q -O /dev/null https://your-site.com/wp-cron.php
10. "Please enter the SafeGuard verdict" blocks all activations
Cause: SafeGuard is in strict mode and no verdict has been computed yet.
Fix: Run a full scan first — SafeGuard → Scan Now. When it finishes, every plugin will have a verdict and activations will proceed.
